After the election, I mostly feel a sense of hopelessness and resignation. Nobody knows what politics will lead us or how it will affect us in the long term or in our everyday life. We are now a country without leaders, governance and direction and I know that many around me feel the same loss and want to be informed.

Similarly, there are companies and organizations without direction. Without clear goal management, it is easy to believe that you as an employee are doing the right thing, but when there is no clear direction, how can you know that it is the right way to go? In principle, each group and each department can be heading in different directions and, in the worst case, work against each other. What kind of path and direction do the employees decide? There will also be long decision-making times as it is difficult to make decisions when there is no clear strategy or goal management to base the decisions on.

There is incredible potential in everyone – every single employee – understanding and embracing overall goals and direction. Then every employee can make the decisions needed to adjust at all levels to reach set goals, regardless of whether it is higher profitability, better customer satisfaction or cutting-edge research. Of course, it is also required that the employees are given a mandate to make the necessary decisions.

Ours employee surveys often contains questions about goals and visions and whether it is considered to permeate the business. The answers we get basically always show shortcomings with this very thing. I have worked with employee surveys in various ways since 2006 and cannot recall a single time when employees felt that the overall goals were clearly broken down in the organization. Rather, explanations such as "we are just working on" are more common. But then where?

I look forward to receiving clear information about how Sweden is to be led. Even if it doesn't turn out according to what I voted for, I will stand behind the result as long as we get a government that can work together and lead us forward. It is a difficult task to form a government, but it must be done.

When we see how tough the task is, we in companies and organizations should be able to gather strength and be motivated by the challenge. Thereby feeling that there are no excuses to get hold of goal management and really gather the company so that it becomes a common force going forward.
